Along with the birth of Las Vegas's famous Strip anchored by the Flamingo, Desert Inn (now the new Wynn Resort), Sands (now the Venitian Resort )and Sahara Casinos in the 50's golf became an important part of the vegas scene. Early courses included the Las Vegas National. One of the oldest golf courses in Las Vegas, and a favourite hangout for Frank Sinatra, this Bert Stamps designed course opened for play in October 1961 as the Stardust Country Club. Its history is full of great PGA events including the PGA Tournament of Champions, The Michelin Championship and most recently the Las Vegas Invitational.

Opened in 1964, Desert Rose Golf Courses, located just 15 minutes from Las Vegas Boulevard,  offers a good old-fashioned round of golf and prices to match. It's a Clark County course and a good choice if you budget conscious. Also check out Las Vegas Golf Course and Wildhorse

Since these early days many golf properties available to Las Vegas travelers have sprung up including many in the neighbouring Henderson area. Some of these golf clubs have multiple courses... one of the top golf clubs in the area, Las Vegas Paiute has three courses, The Paiute Wolfe, the Paiute Sun and  the Paiute Snow. You will also find two courses at the Revere Golf Course in Henderson, the Revere Lexington and the Revere Concord. This Troon Golf Managed course has received many awards for excellence and is certainly worth including in your trip!
